It's a small world...

Most of the people in the world can be connected through six degrees of separation; however, Professor Keith Jones of Central College in Pella, Iowa has proposed that when factoring in Yankton, it is closer to one to two degrees of separation. Below is supporting evidence of Dr. Jones’ theory.

Last week I was creeping on the Seattle Facebook network and came across a profile picture I recognized. The picture was of a high school friend’s wedding. Turns out the girl who posted the picture (she lives in Seattle) was a bridesmaid in a classmate’s wedding; pretty crazy eh? Well, I messaged her and she replied saying she’d like to meet up and we did earlier this week. Her name is Maggie and she’s way fun.

Random Facebook story part 2. Later after “friending”(technical Facebook term) Maggie, one of her friends messages me and informs me that we have three mutual friends from Yankton. Tiffany, the second messager, used to date a classmate of mine from Yankton, but she didn’t know my other Yankton friend who was recently married. Two separate Yankton connections, and both to the same graduation class!

Dr. Jones is obviously on to something. If anyone else has a story to support his theory please leave a comment!

I hope you all are well and loving life; I am!

Trey

Dear Trey,

Maggie get's to be called "way fun." I get nothing. Does this seem fair to you?

Greatly concerned,

Tiffany

Haha well I would definatly agree it's a small world. I've found that out many times. An example, my best friend Meagen is going to Texas Lutheran University and I mentioned that to one of my friends here at Black Hills State University who use to live in texas and he told me his best friend goes to TLU. I texted Meagen about it and she knows him. Kinda weird haha. Thats just one of many examples haha. =)

I forgot another connection I have out here! I have a good friend named Charlie Wyman, and his dad, Carl Wyman, went to Med School at U South Dakota and dated a girl from Yankton while he was there. Can't remember her name, but my Grandma is friends with the girl he dated's mother....so crazy.

It IS a small world! Last week, I went with my family on a random road trip to Orange City, Iowa. My dad was drooling over an old MG in the parking lot of the restaurant we were at, and met another fellow who was doing the same. They decided to have a beer and got to talking. Come to find out, this guy knew my mom's best friend Marylin from college, who she hadn't talked to in over 35 years. She happened to live there, so we went over to her house to visit. If that wasn't crazy enough, Marylin's daughter had just won a contest on the Rachel Ray show. So I had seen Marylin on tv a few weeks before, not knowing that it was my mom's friend. Crazy, huh??
I totally agree with you on the 1-2 degrees!
Take care,
